Nicks Timber Company invest for the future
Nicks Timber Company invest for the future: As Gloucester’s oldest continually trading family business we celebrate our 160th year on the Bristol Road site in 2016. After the major fire in May 1987 the site was quickly reorganised to keep the company trading and sheds were moved around and placed on virgin ground. Here we are in 2016 and we can finally finish off the job with the concreting of ‘Shed Six ‘ some 5,500 sqft ready to take racking to enlarge our onsite storage capacity for Redwoods , Cedar, Larch , Oak and Sapele, to improve the flow of materials to the mill and for prompt dispatch of sawn materials.
We have also recently acquired the parcel of land which until now has always had to be leased from British Waterways now the Canal Trust which runs behind a number of businesses adjacent to our site, now that ownership has been secured we will invest in this 1.25 acres concreting it fully enabling us to hold a larger stock volume and profile in construction timbers , Bulk timbers and longlengths enabling quick and easy selection of orders and an ability to for fill ALL our customers’ requirements without further processing and double handling of goods from the port operation at Cardiff. Nicks Timber Company will once more become a direct importer of product onto the Gloucester site. Here’s to the next 160 Years !!
